Tom Yum Kung Shrimp Soup is expected to be listed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) as one of Thailand's Tangible Cultural Heritage, according to Culture Minister Sudawan
Thailand vil også se kebayaen, en traditionel kvindelig overbeklædning, indsendt som en fælles kulturarv mellem Brunei, Indonesien, Malaysia, Singapore og det sydlige Thailand tilføjet til listen.
Både fadet og beklædningen forventes at blive godkendt på Unescos 19. møde i den mellemstatslige komité i Paraguays Asunción i denne uge.
Fire af Thailands kulturarv er allerede blevet opført af FN, herunder khon-maskedans, Nora-dans, thaimassage og Songkran-festivalen.
Fru Sudawan sagde, at kabinettet godkendte kulturministeriets forslag om at indsende tom yum kung til Unesco-noteringen den 23. marts 2021.
Hun sagde, at denne sunde rejesuppe repræsenterer enkelheden og selvtilliden i en thailandsk livsstil, især dem, der bor i et landbrugssamfund nær en flod eller kanal i Central Plains.
Rejer fanges i en flod eller kanal, mens de andre nøgleingredienser, nemlig galangal, citrongræs, kaffirlimeblade, chili og lime, kan findes i haven i de fleste thailandske husholdninger.
En begivenhed for at fejre fortegnelserne vil blive afholdt på EmQuartier på fredag.

One of Bangkok's Oldest and Shortest streets has some of the best street food including Michelin selected restaurants. It's been named one of the world's 40 coolest neighborhoods by Time Out. We spent the morning exploring roasted duck, insta famous beef noodles, generations old bao and a watermelon granita topped with dried fish!
