The Commerce Ministry’s “Blue Flag” (Thong Fah) programme aims to stop khao kaeng vendors from increasing prices, fixing the cost of Thai style fast food with rice and one dish at between 25 and 30 baht. Prices for 10 common khao kaeng dishes, popular among low- to middle-income earners, tend to increase during periods when living costs are high. Launched in 1995, the Blue Flag scheme offers consumer goods, including foodstuffs, at discounted prices to help people cope with the impact of rising living costs.Video by Pattanapong Hirunard and Rata Rojjanavaroe
