Phuket Vegetarian Festival. Fra:søndag den 25. september Til: tirsdag den 4. oktober

This evening no rain and I quickly piggy back “One Speed Wander” the 80’s MTB SingleSpeed on the back of my car and headed to my cafe at Phuket Old Town and if the weather stay perfect I may be able to shoot some pics n video.

So today we are down in Phuket town taking a First look at the 2022 Vegetarian Festival otherwise known as the Nine Emperor Gods festival which runs from the 25th Sept 22 until the 4th Oct 22.
Today is the opening ceremony of the festival which includes The raising of the Gauteng Pole at Jui Tui Shrine 'Temple' just off Ranong rd.
The vegetarian festival isn't just about food, far from it but as the name suggests the food on offer is vegetarian and vegan which we shall take a look at later in the week we will also be looking at the amazing street parades that take place during this great festival.

The 9 Principles of the Phuket Vegetarian Festival:
1. Wear white clothes during the whole festival
2. Do not eat meat or animal products (milk, eggs, etc.)
3. Keep your body clean
4. Do not drink alcohol
5. Do not lie, cheat or steal
6. No sexual activity during the festival
7. Do not eat food with a strong smell (garlic)
8. Keep and wash cooking utensils separately from those used in the event
0. Mourners should not attend the festival

The Phuket Vegetarian Festival is the largest celebration of its kind in Thailand.
Known as the Nine Emperor Gods Festival -- the celebration is nine days of nonstop food and ceremonies; it is also called Jiya Chai
